New Jersey Transit Tries Again to Buy Hoboken Waterfront Site

New Jersey Transit is reviving the idea of buying a piece of the Hoboken waterfront from a ferry company that wants to fix and fuel its boats there. The statewide transit agency, which owns fleets of trains and buses but no ferries, announced on Thursday that its board would hold a special meeting next week to vote on the purchase at an undisclosed price. Neither the agency nor the office of Gov. Philip D. Murphy would explain the urgency of voting on the matter, which Mr. Murphy opposed in January.
