What Trump infrastructure plan could mean for Gateway Tunnel

President Donald Trump released his long-awaited infrastructure plan on Monday. The plan sets aside $200 billion in federal funding for infrastructure projects. The plan mainly relies on states, localities and private investors to reach the administration’s goal of $1.5 trillion in infrastructure investment. Under the proposal, $100 billion would go to match outside investment for transportation projects; $20 billion for what will be called “transformative programs,” new construction rather than rebuilding existing public works; $20 billion for loans; $50 billion for block grants to states for construction in rural areas; and a $10 billion capital financing fund. The administration official suggested the Gateway Tunnel Project could seek funding from both the $100 billion and the transformative program funds.
